I hope everyone enjoyed Labor day weekend! Now it’s time to get back to work! (for those who were off!) This past Saturday appears to have been a good one for most of my dealers. I had several calls saying they were rockin! Alright!
Make it a great week! Sell, sell, sell!

Awesome! 1,000 members! We will be able to look back & laugh about this number down the road. I want to encourage all dealers & vendors to continue promote AUTTR. You will do them a big favor. MAKE IT a great week!

Great Golf outing as usual! Jim Mitchell & Christine at the OIADA pulled off another great time! Although I do not golf, I always feel privileged to be around such a great group of dealers & vendors while working at such an event. The ball drop was fun….it would have been much more fun if I had won!

WoW! has it been hot….I mean selling! I have been seeing my numbers climb in regards to VSCs, Bank financing etc. My dealers have told me they have had more ups on their lots this past month than they have seen in a long time! Sure, we all have our slow days but it’s great on those “pay” days! Let’s continue to grow our businesses & milk for all we can the times we are “hot’! Good selling!

Well, another service contract company is OOB. Sad! Sad because the consumer & dealer may have claim battles on their hands due to the fact they were NOT insured. Yes, insured providers can also go OOB. However, they do have a layer of protection by INDEPENDENTLY watching reserves & have actuarials to minimize loss etc. They can also tap into the states Guaranty Fund provided for the REAL insurance companies. For example, self insured, bonded & RRGs are NOT ALLOWED to participate in the States Guaranty Fund. Sure, they were cheap but what can the “REAL” cost end up being to you, the dealer? Self insured contracts have their place if they are used correctly in the right situation based on the vehicle’s mileage & term.
(ie: Customer won’t buy vehicle with high mileage if you don’t offer them at least a 3mo/3k mi service contract/warranty.) I recommend to my dealers to keep the term low to decrease their risk long term if the company goes belly-up & on longer term contracts use only insured VSCs. I always recommend to dealers to go 100% insured in their dealerships when I call on them. However, the dealer ultimately makes the decision on which one they will sell. It’s our job as reps/consultants to inform the dealer as to what the risks are then let the cards fall as they may.
Make it a great week & make the right decisions! -

WoW! This is the first opportunity I had to say the NIADA convention was AWESOME! Keith Whann & Jim Mitchell represented us well. I found some unique products that some of my dealers will need to keep them more competitive in the marketplace. I also had a great time just hanging with dealers & having lots of laughs. In Vegas it’s pretty easy!
The next time, those of you who did not make it one word for you…GO!
Make it a hot selling week too! -

The NIADA convention is in a couple of weeks. It’s always a great time & lot’s of info can be learned attending the sessions. If anyone is wondering or maybe I should say “wandering” if they should go….YES! It’s not too late. I hope to see you there! Make it a great week!

WoW! Keith Whann is going to review dealers papaerwerke for FREE @Columbus Fair Auto Auction? All dealers should attend this one! I get around to hundreds of dealers throughout the Tri-State & find old passed down docs dealers are using all the time. On occassion, I fax them to Jim Mitchell @ the OIADA & after his review the dealer realizes how they have put themselves in harms way. Dealers may not think it’s a big deal until it cost them big money. Hopefully there will be so many dealers attend the seminar @CFAA that Keith will have to have several sessions! Sorry Keith!

Jim,
Some BHPH dealers get burnt by tow companies waiting to report a repo they picked up in order to collect a longer storage fee. Is there a law to protect the dealer from such practices? There seems to be some confusion on this topic. Please clarify. Thanks as always in advance for your assistance!

Brad – It was nice to see you there. It was nice to hear how well your company is doing – it must be the great products and the professional service. By the way, how do you find the time to volunteer for this event?
See you soon!

Brad – Thank you for the nice words. The OIADA was very pleased with how everything came together for this years event and the Helicopter Ball Drop was the icing on the cake. LJ did a great job for the team running that part of the event and I will need more time to go over everything today so that I can make a proper post to thank everyone. Every year this event takes more and more time time to compete but I do know that Christine was a huge help this year. Thank you to everyone, and especially to all of our sponsors who really make it all possible.
