Our office gets several calls regading the amount of title fees which can be charged to the customer. Some dealers are reported charging as much as $42.00 for title fees alone and more than $30.00 for temporary tags. THIS IS WRONG! The title fees that may be charged legally are listed below, compliments of the Franklin County Clerk of Courts. The fee for Temporary Tags is $18.50 and the maximum that a dealer may charge for Document Fees is $250.00.

Ohio House Bill 2, passed in April and signed by the Governor, increases the fee for Motor Vehicle and Watercraft titles. This fee increase took effect on July 1, 2009.

The fee for all requests of an original title, duplicate, replacement, repossession, and lien notation certificate of title (with or without a memorandum or lien) will be one flat rate of $15.00. Below is a fee structure which clarifies certain title transactions.
